Christmas Around The World Questionaire

1. Are you religious? Not really. I consider myself more spiritual. A Kitchen Witch with Quaker and “book” Buddhist leanings.

2. How long have you been knitting? Would you consider yourself a Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced? Knitting a bit over 2 years. A solid Intermediate. Been crocheting since I was 4.

3. Do you have any other hobbies besides knitting? I am a HUGE reader. Also play video games, cook, bake, garden (in pots) and sew.

4. Favorite color(s)? Bright or dark colors. I don’t mean neon. I mean cobalt as opposed to sky blue or amethyst instead of lavender or red as opposed to mauve – think precious jewel tones.

5. Do you collect anything? Gargoyles, compass roses, old nautical maps/sea charts (especially of the Atlantic), vintage cookbooks & pamphlets (1700’s – 1960’s), vintage romance novels & pulp fiction (50’s – 70’s)

6. Are you allergic to any fibers or animals? no, but not fond of 100% mohair

7. Do you have any pets? No pets at the moment

8. Coffee, Tea, or Hot Chocolate? All the above?

9. Cookies or Sweets? Cookies

10. Do you knit socks? Yes, but slowly. Still working on my technique. Three socks that have been frogged.

11. If not socks then what? (tell us about your favorite knits) Love to knit hats, soakers, dishcloths & scarves.

12. Do you put up a Christmas tree? If not then what do you do? We sometimes have a tree. Not really important to us. But this we will this year with son being older.

13. Favorite holiday treats? Sugar Cookies, gingerbread and honestly I like a good fruit cake.

14. Favorite holiday smells? Fresh Baking / Apple Spice

15. Do you celebrate Christmas in a traditional or unconventional way? Please elaborate. Rather non-traditionally. We do a combo Yule/Christmas thing. It’s a time of family as well as a time of contemplation.

16. What are your favorite holiday traditions? baking cookies with friends and kids,

17. Finish the sentence: “For me Christmas is all about….” large family meals & seeing folks you haven’t seen in forever.

18. If you were a Christmas ornament you would be…….? Applesauce Cinnamon Star

19. What was your favorite gift you’ve ever received? Or given? I love love love giving gifts. My favorites are little baskets of items that I’ve made and collected.

20. When do you start your Christmas? Around the 21st. On the solstice

21. Do you send Christmas cards? Do you make them or buy them? Usually buy them and hopefully remember to send them.

22. What is your favorite Christmas dish? Pernil – Puerto Rican Pork Roast (often Ham shoulder)

23. Carolers are at your door. What do you do? Offer cookies

24. When do you open presents? Christmas eve or Christmas morning? Depends on hubby’s work schedule, we’ve done both. We are probably going to do the night before because hubby will probably be working.

25. Do you celebrate with family or friends or both?Both
